I have been doing a lot of hiking. Went shooting the other day (bruised my shoulder pretty bad. The salmon commercial fishing season started the other day. A few boats returned completely full with fish. One day the captain returned the boat with a edible plant books so we went for a hike threw a valley notorious for bears. We found some cool stuff to munch on.

Time off

Alright I’m back from the first trip. Everything went great. I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but my cooking was off the hook.

To recap the the trip. When the owner arrived we took off right away to Fish Bay. We arrived around 11 at night but you couldn’t tell because it was still sunny outside. We fished for the most part a little bit south of Fish bay and Shark Cove. We ended up getting a few Halibut, 3 Lingcod, 1 Coho Salmon, about 20 Quillback rockfish, 42 Dungeness crabs, 102 Spot prawns, and a large bucket filled with clams. I enjoyed the lingcod the most. By the way after feeding 8 very hungry people, 42 dungeness crab yielded around 20 pds of crab meat.

We also went to the other east side of Baranof Island. It was quite a site. Since there was so much snow this winter there are waterfalls everywhere. There was a really cool waterfall right next to this little village that was where the hot springs were. The hot springs was really nice, I was able to kickback and relax.

I’m glad the trip went so well. But it was nice to get back to Sitka for some fun and relaxation. The captain rented a car, so we got to go out to some the National Parks outside of town. We also bought 5 dozen oysters fresh out the ocean. I think the were the best oysters I’ve ever had. Here are some pics of my adventure.

So I finally made it to Alaska. I have seen a lot of cool things. A lot of beautiful places, along with a lot of strange people.

We made are way up from Seattle threw Canada. We we first checked into Canadian Customs on this small little Island in the middle of the Inside Passage( A channel of small and large islands with protection from the open ocean). It was really nice looking but we soon found out incredibly boring. All though there were some hillbilly Canucks bumping some country music. We than made are way up to a awesome looking cove. There was nothing around for miles. Except a Big black bear. We ignored all good judgement and decided to get as close as possible in are small boat. If it would of charged all we had was a paddle and a camera to fight it off with. It was really nice going threw British Columbia until we hit the open ocean for about 10 miles it was about 10 foot seas and both the girls on board lost there lunch. British Columbia is really beautiful but after awhile all you see is huge mountains with just a shitload of trees all over. Kinda boring.

Are first stop in Alaska was Ketchikan. This is a major stop for all the cruise ships and all also from what I have seen so far the Armpit of Alaska. There is a really cool rainforest,but the people here are just spun on meth and pretty weird. I do have to say they had a nice Halfpipe at the community center and since everyone my age is spun out on meth I was able to ride all by myself for about 2 hours. I also saw a good band who sounded like NOFX/ Bad Religion.

Are second stop and where we are now is Sitka. I totally dig this town .The first day I was here I walked into the local surf shop( yes they surf up here and it looks pretty good) . The owner of the shop offered to take me for a downhill skate run. They use those mountain boards with really loose trucks and inflatable street wheels to fly/carve down these insane hills. I LOVED IT. Its like surfing/snowboarding/skateboarding. The owner of the shop also offered to take me surfing and abalone diving when I get back from the first trip. All right talk to ya soon

So I know i haven’t written in a little while. I have been very busy. Last thursday, I went back home for a trip home before I leave to the great white north. I flew into Long Beach Airport around 10:30 in the morning and it was everything I miss about Socal. It was about 85degrees out and not a cloud in the sky. I went to my parents house as soon I got into San pedro. I couldn’t wait to see the shithead ( wren my dog) . I then walked ( ( I Know walking in san pedro, who wouldve thought) up to Chad’s house. Some of the boys were there, Dustin , Israel, Fred .We played bacci Ball and had a couple of cold ones. Then from there I we went to the J Tranis said hello to everyone, then from there , to the Brew Co and saw the rest of San Pedro.

On Saturday was the Traughber Family reunion. Lets just say it was stressful and fun at the same time. I did miss my sister a lot that day.

I flew back up To Seattle Monday afternoon. When I arrived I remembered the one main reason why I don’t like Seattle .It was cold and raining and just miserable.

Monday was the first night I met are new Captain. Captain Keith had to resign because his marriage was having problems. No one thinks any less of him , we know he made the right decision. Captain Michael is a lot different from Keith. He is very energetic, very precise, there are other things. But I am looking forward to spending the next 1-4 yrs traveling the world with him.

So were getting ready to ship out of Seattle. The first place we will anchor up is Vancouver. I’m pretty stoked to see it. I’ve heard nothing but good things. Well I will try to write more. See everyone in awhile
